Officials at Vanderbilt University said a test tripped an alarm causing the response of hazmat crews.

The incident happened Wednesday morning in the 2200 block of Garland Avenue on campus.

Photos from the scene showed a large response from emergency personnel as crews checked out the scene.

Representatives with Vanderbilt released the following statement:

"There was no radiation exposure and no hazard. The alarm was somehow triggered when we were conducting a test on an emergency generator that supports that area of the building. We are investigating to identify the association between the generator test and the accidental triggering of the alarm."
