Officer Injured In 2-Vehicle Crash In Madison

Emergency crews responded to the scene of an officer-involved crash in Madison involving two vehicles.

The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Old Hickory Boulevard West off of Port Drive.

A preliminary investigation showed that Officer Jesse Cox was traveling west on Old Hickory Boulevard when another vehicle that had been traveling east hit him on the driver's side of his patrol vehicle.

Officer Cox was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with injuries to his leg and back pain. Officials said he was conscious and his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Reports stated the other driver appeared to be intoxicated, but confirmation of that had not been made.

The investigation remained ongoing.
