The driver of a pickup truck was killed after a crash with a school bus in Rutherford County.

The wreck happened Friday morning in the 9600 block of John Bragg Highway in Readyville.

Investigators said the school bus was at a regular stop with its stop sign out and flashing lights activated when the truck ran into the back left corner of the bus. The driver was killed by the impact.

The victim's identity had not been released.

"From all indications, the warning lights were active on the bus. We're looking into what actually caused this crash to happen," said Sgt. Travis Plotzer with the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said no children were injured.

Besides the driver, no one else was inside the truck. Officials said they're looking into whether or not the sun played a factor.

Officials with Rutherford County Schools confirmed it was Bus 52 that was rear-ended in the crash. They also confirmed no students were injured and said the bus driver was uninjured.

Authorities said around 11 students were on the bus or boarding at the time of the wreck.

School officials said parents had been contacted about the crash.
