An escapee from Bedford County has been taken into custody after a nearly two-day manhunt.
Officials with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday morning that 20-year-old Harley Caffee has been captured.
Details of his arrest were not known.
Authorities said they strongly believe Caffee was behind a series of business break-ins after he escaped late Tuesday night.
One of those happened at L and L Market on Highway 41A in Unionville where the suspect got away with multiple cartons and packs of cigarettes and about $60 in change.
Another break-in happened at a business in Eagleville off of Highway 41A.
A third took place at the Country Market and Deli on Horton Highway in Williamson County. Caffee used a cement block to break through a window. Authorities said he stole e-cigarettes, cigarillos, and lighters before he fled.
Detectives have been investigating at all of these locations. He was caught on surveillance camera in Williamson County.
Officials said Caffee is from Alabama, and the sheriff added they think, based on the timing and locations of the break-ins, he may be headed to Alabama on Interestate 65 or another highway.
