In Dickson County there has been a grassroots effort to make sure every kid has a good Christmas.
Sheriff's deputies were joined by Santa at the county’s housing authority Saturday to give out gifts.
Every year donations have been made to the Sheriff's Office for children who have been through a situation where law enforcement had to respond.
Last year the department had toys left over, so they gave them out around Christmas to those in need.
It brought so much joy to local families they decided to do it again.
"Make sure that everyone knows we're here,” said Dustin Evans, of the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office. “We want to spread some Christmas joy and just show that you can have good interaction with the police."
The toys were donated all year long by Deputy Dustin Evans' neighbors.
This was the first year he's done this event. He said he hopes to do it again next year with even more toys.
