Posted

A man was hit while crossing the street near downtown overnight, and authorities said the driver just kept on going.

The incident happened on Charlotte Avenue near 11th Avenue North around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

Officials said the male victim was seriously injured and rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but they added his injuries were not life-threatening. His identity had not been released.

The man and a woman were dropped off in that location by a ride-share driver.

After crossing the street, a different driver hit the man then fled the scene.

Police said they’re looking for the driver of a gold Chevy Suburban, which they added has driver side damage and a missing driver side mirror.

Anyone with information that could help police track down the person responsible has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME (615-742-7463).
