Police were called to the scene of a bizarre crash along Interstate 40 overnight.
The collision happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at mile marker on I-40 East.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said two cars were involved but one was parked on the shoulder with no one inside.
Officers said the driver of the other car took off; however, it appears that he or she smashed his or her head into the windshield.
No additional details were known.
