Officials with the Nashville Fire Department said the fire was so large, it took them nearly an hour to extinguish.
The house was apparently undergoing renovations and did have electricity. Firefighters had to cut the power while battling the blaze.
At one point, flames were shooting from the windows, doors and the roof. A nearby home was also damaged.
The blaze was so intense that firefighters had to use the ladder truck, normally reserved for larger buildings and businesses, to fight it.
The fire has been called suspicious. No additional details were known.
