An 87-year-old man said he knows he's lucky to be alive after three teenagers tried to rob him at gunpoint outside his home in Bordeaux.
Clarence Leslie has lived in his home on Westport Drive for about 50 years and has never been involved in any incidents in his neighborhood.
However, it was last week when a car pulled up, and two teens armed with guns jumped out as Leslie was checking his mailbox.
"One had the gun pointed on me in the face and then the other one had his gun pointed on me and patted me down," Leslie told NewsChannel 5.
Leslie said the teens repeatedly asked him to give them money even though he had nothing of value on him.
"He kept repeating he was going to shoot me. I thought they were going to shoot me," Leslie recalled.
A third accomplice was waiting in the suspects' vehicle during what Leslie believed was a two-minute ordeal. He said the suspects scurried away once they heard the police.
"They should be working and making their own money outside of robbing somebody," Leslie said.
Police arrested 19-year-old Derrick Archibald, Jr., 18-year-old Tony Scoggin, and 18-year-old Octavious Mannie on charges of attempted aggravated robbery.
Undercover detectives arrested the individuals immediately following the incident after they tracked down their car.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said a citizen called about the suspects' vehicle being suspicious on Clarksville Pike.
Detectives followed the vehicle from Clarksville Pike to the 1300 block of Westport Drive where the attempted robbery occurred.
The three suspects were being held on a $250,000 bond.
