Predators General Manager David Poile announced that defenseman Ryan Ellis is expected to miss several months due to recovery from offseason surgery.
Poile made the announcement Thursday saying Ellis' surgery was on an leg injury.
Officials hoped Ellis will be able to get back on the ice around the start of the new year.
The 26-year-old ended last season with a career-high of 16 goals and 38 points.
