Enroll America and Get Covered Tennessee representatives were out at the Main library downtown trying to help people get insurance coverage before Sunday's deadline.
The event Saturday gave people the chance to get enrollment help for free.
After Sunday’s deadline, Tennesseans who still do not have insurance coverage could be looking at a stiff fine.
“If you don’t enroll in 2016, then when you go to pay your taxes after the year is over with, next year, then you’re going to incur a $695 penalty for the year for not having insurance,” said Sandy Dimick, of Get Covered Tennessee.
They have planned to host more of these events Sunday at the Lentz Public Health Center from noon until 5 p.m. and at Family and Children Services from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
