One lane of Interstate 24 West has reopened after a hit-and-run crash involving a tractor trailer.

The wreck happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday along I-24 at Haywood Lane.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the driver of a silver car ran into the median before crashing into a FedEx truck pulling two trailers.

The semi veered off the road, where it struck a pole and overturned.

The driver of the car fled the scene.

The FedEx truck came to rest on its side as hundreds of packages scattered along the interstate.

The driver suffered only minor injuries.

A tow truck was able to remove one of the trailers from the side of the road. Crews would remove the other once rush ends.

The wreck has already caused a significant delay in the area and could be a problem during the morning commute.

Anyone with information on the hit-and run-should call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
