At least one person was rescued in the Ashland City area near Lockertsville Road and Harris Town Road. Officials said he was taken to Centennial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Cheatham County officials said crews worked to free the man from a trapped vehicle near Sycamore Creek. Drivers were asked to avoid George Boyd Road due to flooding.

“We found the victim had been swept down Harris Town Road, and he had hung on a bridge right at the intersection of Lockartsville Road,” said Chuck Walker, Ashland City Fire Chief.

“He said his legs were hurting and getting numb because the water was fairly cool, and we were worried about hypothermia setting in,” Walker said.

Instead of waiting on the swift water rescue team, officials said they sent firefighters into the water.

“They walked from the military truck about 20 yards over to the truck in the waist deep water and broke the window out and got the gentleman out,” Walker said.

Earlier Wednesday, officials with the Dickson County Fire Rescue Squad Tweeted that five people and four dogs had to be rescued along the Piney River in Hickman County.

The Piney River is situated just west of Bon Aqua and Dickson.

A Flood Warning remains in effect for Hickman County, especially near Vernon.

The National Weather Service said the river is currently at 15-feet and rising. It could reach some 17-feet by later Wednesday morning.

Crews were working to remove debris from under bridges where Sycamore Creek has been clogging up.
