A sergeant with the Metro Nashville Police Department has been decommissioned after being arrested on a DUI charge.

Authorities said 54-year-old Sergeant Danny Hale was arrested Saturday in Smith County on charges of DUI and violation of the implied consent law.

Officials said Hale was a 32-year veteran of the MNPD. He had been assigned to the Administrative Services Bureau in his role as President of the Andrew Jackson Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Hale has been told to report to headquarters Monday regarding his assignment.

According to reports, the police department's Office of Professional Accountability has been set to begin an administrative investigation of Hale's actions.
