Friends and family of Dietrich Minor held a fundraiser at The Batter's Box for the 27-year-old shooting victim to help raise money for his medical costs.
"He is actually progressing so much every day," Erica Mansker, a friend of Minor, said during the fundraiser Saturday.
Minor was walking to The Batter's Box from a gas station on September 26 when police said he was approached by two men in an SUV.
Authorities believed the two suspects had robbed a homeless man moments prior before they attacked Minor near the corner of Lea Avenue and Hermitage Avenue.
After getting shot twice, Minor made his way up to The Batter's Box where he was able to get help. He was transported to Vanderbilt where he has undergone numerous surgeries.
Friends have been raising money for Minor due to the fact that he has no health insurance and will need to pay for his medical expenses.
A gofundme page has been set up for Minor and numerous people have already donated.
"He's very grateful, he tells me that everyday," Mansker said.
Police have still been searching for the people responsible for the shooting. If you have any information, call police.
