The nation paused to remember the September 11th attacks on America on the 15th anniversary of that tragic day.
People in Middle Tennessee also took time to mark the anniversary, including with a memorial and garden dedication in Brentwood on Sunday.
The City of Brentwood and the "Leadership Brentwood Class of 2016" worked together to create a “Public Safety Reflecting Garden" as a way to honor all the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Brentwood Fire Chief Brian Goss said Sunday was a reminder of an event that changed everything.
The Garden has three statues representing law enforcement, firefighters, and the US Military. There were also four sitting benches installed.
The garden has been located outside City Hall.
