A Good Samaritan jumped into action and helped a woman who had just been robbed at an east Nashville grocery store.
The incident happened during the early evening hours of Tuesday at a Kroger on Gallatin Pike and Greenfield Avenue.
According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, a woman was loading groceries into her car when a suspect, identified as Danshawn Manning, reached for her purse.
Police said Manning was trying to pull the purse away when he grabbed the victim's neck and pushed her.
Meanwhile, another customer in the parking lot witnessed the struggle and chased after the suspect.
Manning was tackled and held to the ground until police arrived.
When asked why he did it, a police report said Manning responded "he had to do it."
