Dozens of volunteers came out to the Nashville Rescue Mission to serve those in need.
The event was the mission's annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet.
NewsChannel 5’s Vicki Yates, Nick Beres, Jennifer Kraus, Steve Hayslip, and Carrie Sharp joined Mayor Megan Barry and several other volunteers to serve a Thanksgiving meal.
The event has helped restore some hope for those who have fallen on tough times, and it has become a holiday tradition for those wanting to give back.
That sentiment has been something Mayor Barry said is a constant in Nashville.
“We are a really giving community, and it’s not just on Thanksgiving and during the holidays, you see that all the time in Nashville,” Mayor Barry said. “People want to help, and that’s what makes Nashville so special.”
The meal was complete with turkey, dressing, green beans, and rolls.
