Republican Governor Bill Haslam has named David Gerregano as his new commissioner of revenue.
Gerregano, a 19-year veteran of the department, has been responsible for collecting Tennessee taxes. He most recently served as deputy commissioner to Richard Roberts, who announced he will leave state government earlier in November.
Haslam called Gerregano an accomplished public servant who "knows the Department of Revenue inside and out." As deputy commissioner, he was responsible for developing tax policy and making tax guidance available to the public through revenue rulings and other online resources.
Gerregano grew up in Gainesboro and earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Vanderbilt University.
