A fire caused by an overnight storm destroyed a home in Cheatham County.
Officials there said lightning hit the home on Annette Drive in Ashland City around 1:45 a.m. Friday.
Ashland City Fire Chief Chuck Walker said neighbors heard a bang when the lightning struck the home.

Smoke detectors woke up the man inside the home, and he was about to get out safely.
Both Ashland City and Pleasant View Fire Departments fought the flames during an intense storm. Firefighters felt a jolt when lightning hit a pole next to them, but no injuries were reported.
Authorities confirmed the home was a total loss.
According to the homeowner, he’s been there 30 years and has insurance.
