Homicide Investigation Underway In Murfreesboro

A homicide investigation was launched in Murfreesboro after a man was found dead in an apartment complex's parking lot.  

Officers with Murfreesboro Police said a shots fired call at the Vie apartments came in shortly before 5 a.m. Friday.

When they arrived at the scene on Wenlon Drive, witnesses told them a man was lying in one of the parking lots.

The body of an African American male was found between buildings three and five. His identity was unknown.

Residents told police they saw a dark colored vehicle fleeing the scene.

Officers later spotted a car matching the description in the area and pulled over the driver. That person had been shot in the leg and was taken to the St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital Emergency Room.  

No additional details have been released.

Rutherford County Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward of up to $1,000.00 for information leading to an arrest at 615-893-STOP (7867).
