A past relationship was being looked into following a fatal crash in Clarksville.
Officials with the Clarksville Police Department said the wreck happened around 12:02 a.m., early Sunday morning, on Franklin Street near University Avenue.
At the scene, authorities said they found 32-year-old Alberdeen Townsend, who had been killed in the crash. He was driving a Suzuki SUV.
A woman at the scene, who was in a Ford Fusion, was injured. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. Her name was not provided.
During an investigation, authorities learned four other vehicles and a building had also been hit during the crash.
Because of the past relationship, the Fatal Accident Crash Team and Homicide Unit investigators have been working together on the case.
Police said they were also working to find the owners of two unoccupied vehicles that were hit at the scene.
