A section of Interstate 24 has shut down due to a crash in Rutherford County.
Officials said the wreck involving multiple vehicles happened before 4 p.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes at Exit 78 for State Route 96.
Authorities confirmed the westbound lanes were shut down and traffic was being diverted to alternate routes. Eastbound traffic was not affected.
Details had not been released regarding the cause of the crash or if any injuries were involved.
Crews estimated the roadway would be cleared by 6:30 p.m.
