An inmate at the Davidson County Jail faces additional charges after he allegedly stabbed a sheriff’s deputy in the face with a pen.
According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, the incident happened Monday as 25-year-old Blaine Fennely was being escorted down the hall of the jail.
At some point, he allegedly began disobeying the officer's commands to stop walking.
After several warnings, the officer pepper-sprayed Fennely, who then ran down the hall, kicked in a door and tried to hide in a shower stall.
Authorities said he was found and refused to be handcuffed.
The officer then tried to restrain Fennely and pin him to the ground, but was unsuccessful.
At that point, Fennely allegedly grabbed the officer's pen and stabbed him in the face several times. The victim was able to grab his arm to stop any further harm.
Fennely was finally restrained when other officers arrived to help.
The victim was taken to TriStar Summit Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. His name was not known.
Fennely was booked and was not eligible for bond at this time.
