The Nashville Financial Empowerment Center celebrated a big accomplishment at its fundraiser luncheon.
The center has helped low-income Nashvillians reduce debt by a total of $4.5 million and increase savings by a total of $700,000.
Nashville's work in financial empowerment has really stood out from other cities largely due to the partnerships formed with the private sector.
In just three years, the center has helped over 14,000 people gain financial freedom.
At the luncheon on Thursday, Mayor Megan Barry said the end result has been nothing short of gratifying.
“Anytime we can make a difference in somebody's life that puts them on track to realize a dream, I think it’s really empowering,” Mayor Barry said.
The Nashville Financial Empowerment Center has been offering free one-on-one financial counseling to ensure that Nashville citizens have the chance to thrive.
