Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee has been gearing up for its spring fundraiser, and two volunteers have been speaking out about first meeting when one of their wishes was being granted.
“I've been a volunteer wish granter since 2006, and I helped grant Mary Ann's wish in 2008,” said Julia Whitacre. “So we met on her wish, and her wish ultimately drew her to Nashville, and we’ve been friends ever since she moved here.”
“And because of that wish, I'm volunteering with Make-a-Wish now to try to repay them for how much they changed my life,” said Mary Ann Keen.
Mary Ann and Julia became good friends when Mary Ann got to go to the CMT Music Awards in Nashville for her wish.
The Awards Show was being held at Belmont, and they went to a rehearsal for Carrie Underwood and got to meet her.
They were also on the red carpet and attended the awards show as well.
Mary Ann fell in love with Belmont and started going to school there.
A walk to raise money for wish-granting has been set for April 16 at the Bicentennial Mall in Downtown Nashville.
The event is free to register, but for those who raise $100 for Make-a-Wish, they will also receive a T-shirt.
