Authorities in Wilson County arrested a man armed with a sword who was involved in a barricade situation.
The incident happened early Saturday morning at a home in the 200 block of Phillips Lane.
Officials with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said they arrived to the scene in response to a domestic dispute and found the suspect waving a sword aggressively through the front door. He was identified as 43-year-old Michael Chadwick Pruitte.
Pruitte barricaded himself inside the home in a closet, armed with the sword, and threatened to burn the house down.
Following a two-hour standoff, crews made their way into the home and arrested Pruitte without incident.
He was charged with aggravated arson, aggravated assault, and domestic assault.
“We were able to quickly make contact with the victim and move them into a secured area during the standoff,” stated Sheriff Robert Bryan. “We were able to successfully apprehend Mr. Pruitte without any injuries. We train extensively for situations like these, and I commend our officers for their quick response in handling the situation appropriately.”
Pruitte was being held in the Wilson County Jail on a $32,000 bond. He has been scheduled to appear in court for the domestic assault charge at 9 a.m. Wednesday and for the other two charges at 9 a.m. on May 9.
