An accused killer has been placed behind bars after leading police on a car chase.
Wilfred L. Ware, age 49, has been accused in the beating death of a Nashville man, identified as 61-year-old Melvin Blackman.
Wednesday, police said Ware stole a car prompting a pursuit by authorities with the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office.
A few miles out, Ware crashed and was arrested.
Blackman passed away December 30 as a result of his injuries. Reports stated those injuries happened during a dispute with Ware on November 11 at a home in the 800 block of Youngs Lane.
According to reports, Blackman had been drinking when he was assaulted, allegedly by someone he knew.
Blackman was taken by a cab to Skyline Medical Center on November 15, but police were not aware of the incident until November 20.
An investigation led to Ware as the suspect. On May 18, officials announced Ware was wanted and had been indicted.
No further details were available on his arrest.
