A man has been arrested and charged with attempted criminal homicide in Rutherford County.
Officials said the man, identified as Paul Brandon Hampton, got into an argument with his wife around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
Allegedly, Hampton strangled and assaulted his wife during the argument. He also fired a pistol at her head.
Hampton left his home and tried to return around 9:44 a.m.
Authorities said Hampton was taken into custody without incident, and they added he had been charged with attempted criminal homicide and aggravated domestic assault.
Police said they were expecting more charges to be filed in this case.
