Authorities have arrested a man for a string of car break-ins at area greenways.

Officials with Belle Meade and Metro Nashville Police said James Currie III is responsible for breaking into at least five different cars since April at places such as Percy Warner Park and Richland Creek Greenway.

Court documents show Currie would break car windows, steal purses and use the victims' credit cards to purchase items at area gas stations and Walgreens stores.

In one instance, Currie allegedly used the stolen cards to spend more than $1,000 in gift cards.

Currie was booked overnight in jail on a number of charges, including burglary of a motor vehicle, vandalism, fraudulent use of a credit card and identity theft.
