A man, called a habitual motor vehicle offender by police, has been arrested after hitting a bicyclist.

The incident happened on October 7 on 28th Avenue North, when the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Ricky Escue, allegedly hit the bicyclist before leaving the scene.

The victim, 33-year-old Jenn McCombs, was struck from behind by Escue’s gold Cadillac Escalade.

Authorities confirmed Escue was traveling at a high rate of speed and did not stop.

McCombs was treated and released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Escue was taken into custody at the Cumberland Inn on Trinity Lane where he had been staying. Officials said they also found him in possession of cocaine.

Reports stated Escue had four previous DUI convictions.

He has been charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving on a revoked license, cocaine possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Escue was being held in lieu of a $12,000 bond.
