Police have identified a man who died after falling while working on an elevator shaft at a construction site.

Officials with the Nashville Fire Department responded to the scene around 8:24 a.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Belle Park Circle for a report of a fall.

Crews said they found the victim, identified as 38-year-old Leonardo Salazar, of Smyrna, who had fallen from a height of three stories, approximately 30 to 35 feet

Authorities said Salazar suffered devastating injuries in the fall. He did not have a pulse when crews reached him.

Salazar was allegedly working on drywall when he fell into the elevator shaft.

Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department said the incident appeared to be an accident. No foul play was suspected.

The medical examiner has been set to determine the exact cause of death.
