A man was fatally injured after falling from a tractor trailer in Davidson County.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday along Murfreesboro Pike, not far from Elm Hill Pike.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the man, identified as 39-year-old Jeremy Green, was seen jumping in between tractor trailers, holding on and then going for a ride. Authorities confirmed Green was homeless.

At some point, Green was riding between a semi's two tandem trailers. He fell from one of the trailers when the truck turned from Paris Avenue onto Murfreesboro Pike. Officials confirmed Green was run over by the truck.

Authorities said the driver of the truck did not know Green was on the rig or that he fell off.

A witness told a truck driver with the same company about the the incident, which was when the company contacted the driver involved. He immediately returned to the scene.

Green was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died.

Crews with the fatal crash team were on the scene investigating. The road has since reopened.

No additional information was available.
