Police said they’re investigating a death from what appeared to be a shooting.
Around 6:26 a.m. Sunday, officials said they responded to a location in the 2700 block of Old Smith Springs Road where a person had been seen lying on the ground.
Authorities said the victim, identified only as a black male, was dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Officials said fingerprint analysis would be used to determine the man's identity.
They added they believe he was in his 20's, and there was no identification in his clothing, which included a black hooded AKOO sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
The victim also had a tattoo on the inside of his left wrist.
According to witnesses, gun shots were heard between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. Sunday.
Residents in that area said they did not know of anyone who lived nearby who matched the victim's description.
No further details were available. The investigation was ongoing.
