Posted

A man has died after being found in a car with a gunshot wound.

The incident happened Saturday evening at the intersection of Foster Place and Levy Lane.

Officials said the man was found shot in a silver-colored sports car in the middle of the intersection. Police said one of the emergency calls seemed to be from children.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Montez Parrish. He had a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later passed away.

Authorities said they believe the incident began as a fight over a woman. They added Parrish allegedly went to a home in the 1400 block of Levy Lane where he argued with and threatened his former girlfriend by whom he has children.

After she ran from the home, officials said shots were fired around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Parrish was able to make it back into his vehicle where he stopped in the roadway.

Detectives said they were pursuing strong leads as they work to identify the shooter. They released they’re searching for a black male, standing around 5'10" and weighing approximately 180 pounds, who was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

No further details were available. The investigation was ongoing.
