Police on an unrelated call were approached by a man with a gunshot wound.
Authorities were in the area of Marie Street and Stainback Avenue just after 10 p.m. Friday.
Reports stated a car pulled up to the officers with a man inside who had a gunshot wound to his leg.
Two others in the vehicle told officials one of them was getting out of the car at the Riverchase Apartments when a handgun accidentally discharged, striking the victim in the leg.
The victim was taken to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
According to reports, the two witnesses were cooperating with police. No identities had been released.
