During nights when the temperatures drop, it has always been a struggle for our neighbors in need to find a warm place to stay.
That's why Edward Grimes decided to stay up all night Friday night, walking around Murfreesboro to raise awareness for the need of a Rescue Mission there.
Right now people have been able to go to shelters, but Murfreesboro has a growing homeless population, meaning those shelters fill up quickly.
Grimes said a Rescue Mission is what's needed, and it would do more than keep people warm during the cold, winter months.
“If we could have a rescue mission we could do several things, one of which is we could begin to help people get off the streets and back into the community as productive citizens,” Grimes said.
For those needing a place to stay, the "Coldest Nights" shelter has been open at the First Baptist and St. Paul Churches in Murfreesboro.
