A man found guilty of murder, child abuse, and neglect has received the maximum sentence.
Jacob Hughes has been sentenced to life plus 25 years in the death of his girlfriend’s daughter.
The Deputy District Attorney and assistant DA’s pushed for the maximum sentence saying the murder of the 16-month-old was especially heinous and atrocious.
According to evidence, the girl suffered severe head injuries and bruises to her head and body. The 16-month-old died one day after the incident.
Her mother, Neena Constanza, had pled guilty to reckless homicide in 2014 and has been serving a 20 year prison sentence.
