Police have been searching for answers following the shooting of a 23-year-old man downtown.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. Saturday on Broadway near the intersection of 2nd Avenue North.
The victim, identified as Kyle Freeman of Smyrna, said he was walking on Broadway when he felt pain in the area of his left upper back.
Reports stated he continued walking about a block before he and his friends stopped and asked for help.
Employees at the Whiskey Bent Saloon reportedly helped Freeman until police and paramedics arrived on scene.
Freeman was treated for a non-life threatening injury at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the shooting were unclear. No one in that area reported seeing anyone with a gun, and it was unclear from where the weapon was fired.
