An 18-year-old has died after being shot in the parking lot of a south Nashville-area restaurant.
The incident happened behind a Hooters restaurant on Largo Drive, just off of Harding Place, before 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Officials confirmed Hagan Newland, of Ashland City, was shot once in the head during a robbery attempt by three suspects and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He died Monday morning as a result of his injuries.
Cheatham County Schools released the following statement in response to his death:
The entire family of the Cheatham County School District is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own students. Our hearts and thoughts are with the family during this most difficult time of mourning. The school district will ensure that students and staff have access to counseling services to help them work through the healing process following such a tragic event. Cheatham County Central High School faculty and staff have reached out to the family to offer condolences.
Authorities said the shooting stemmed from a drug deal.
Initial reports showed Newland was sitting in his gray Dodge Charger with four friends. As he was counting his money, a witness said three men attempted to rob Newland.
Newland resisted and was shot.
Official said the three suspects were described as black men in their teens or early 20's. They fled in a black Mercedes sedan with tinted windows and black hubcaps.
