A suspect wanted for allegedly beating a woman during a violent carjacking in 2015 has been taken into custody.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 30-year-old Racardo Spencer h as been charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery after several months on the run.
Back in December, a woman went to a convenience store to buy cigarettes and came back out to find a man in her car who demanded that she drive away.
Police said the ordeal unfolded around 11 p.m. at the Obama Market Convenience Store on 40th Avenue.
Fearing for her life, she complied with the suspect's demands and drove him to an apartment complex where she handed over $15.
According to police, Spencer got angry that she had so little cash, and grabbed her by the hair and started punching her repeatedly in the face.
The victim said that Spencer got out of her car calmly after the attack and she drove away. She later came back, looked for witnesses, and subsequently called police.
The victim said before the incident she had never seen the man before.
Spencer was not eligible for bond at this time.
