Posted

It's been 31 years since a plane crash in Canada claimed the lives of 248 Fort Campbell soldiers.

The soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division were assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade.

They were headed back to post after a six-month peacekeeping mission in the Sinai Peninsula.

The plane crashed on December 12, 1985 in Gander, Newfoundland.

On Monday, a memorial ceremony was held to mark the occasion.
