State Representative Karen Camper has headed to Washington to attend a gun violence prevention forum at the White House.
The Memphis Democrat has been scheduled to join a round table discussion on Wednesday about how to fight gun violence in advance of upcoming state legislation sessions around the country.
Camper sponsored a bill that went into law this year that requires the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to inform any agency that entered an order of protection into the National Crime Information Center within one day if the subject of the order is trying to buy a firearm.
Camper joined fellow lawmakers, federal officials, and members of community organizations at the meeting. Camper said she's "honored to a part of the discussion on this important topic and by the invitation by President Obama's administration."
