Metro Police Warn Public Of Phone Scam

Posted

Police have sent out a warning about a recent phone scam in Music City.

The calls have happened at least six times within the 36 hours prior to Saturday.

Officials said the caller has claimed to be with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. The scam has involved telling people they have missed federal court and must pay or face arrest.

Callers then tell victims to buy gifts cards and give them the information, so it can be redeemed for payment.

Those with Metro Police and the sheriff’s office said these calls are false and added authorities do not call citizens seeking payment of any kind.

Officials have encouraged anyone who has received a call like this to hang up and report it to the Emergency Communications Center at 615-862-8600.
