A man who identified himself as a Metro Schools employee was arrested in Murfreesboro on solicitation for rape of a child.

The Murfreesboro Police Department's Special Victims Unit took 38-year-old Brian Keith Watson into custody after a week-long undercover operation.

Detectives said Watson posted an ad on Craigslist seeking to have sex with a mother and her young child.

Undercover detectives posing as a mother of a child interested in the proposal corresponded online with Watson for a week before arranging to meet him at a Murfreesboro restaurant.

Police said he expected to have sex with the mother and her 12-year-old daughter.

Watson, who’s married with two children, showed up with his 9-month-old daughter. The undercover detective stayed in her role until she was able to get Watson to let her hold the child. Then other detectives moved in to take him down.

Watson, standing 6’4’’ and weighing 280 pounds, was booked into the Rutherford County Jail.

Metro Schools officials said they're aware of the arrest. The district issued the following statement:

"MNPS confirms Brian Keith Watson was an employee of the school district. He has been placed on leave, pending the MPD investigation.

Watson worked as an electronics technician. His office was located at Metro Southeast. He worked on a variety of electronics issues including school smoke alarms.

He had no contact with youth, other than attending to electrical issues involving school maintenance.”

The investigation remained open. Detectives confiscated cellphones and hard drives from Watson. There has been a concern he may have targeted other potential young victims.
