A former teacher for Metro Nashville Public Schools has resigned following allegations of inappropriate contact with a student.
Metro Schools Spokesman Joe Bass confirmed the teacher from Apollo Middle Prep resigned earlier Tuesday.
“We have been in regular contact with Metro Police and are cooperating fully with their investigation. Student safety is always our number one priority,” Bass said in part.
Bass said the teacher allegedly had “inappropriate contact” with a female student.
School leaders were made aware of the situation on Friday.
The teacher was removed from the classroom, at which point the situation was reported to Metro Police and the Department of Children’s Services.
The teacher's identity has not been released.
