A deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has been injured in a crash.

The wreck happened just after 3 p.m. Sunday on Highway 76 near the Interstate 24 westbound exit and on ramps.

A preliminary report stated a Toyota Camry, driven by 77-year-old Annie J. Jones, failed to yield when turning left at a green light at the intersection causing the crash.

The Camry turned into 27-year-old Deputy Justin V. Slate's lane of travel where he was driving in his patrol vehicle.

Deputy Slate, Jones, and Jones' passenger, identified as 76-year-old Maxwell C. Jones, were taken to area hospitals.

Authorities said the extent of their injuries was unknown.

Annie Jones has been charged with due care.

No further details were released as the investigation remained ongoing.
