The wreck happened just after 3 p.m. Sunday on Highway 76 near the Interstate 24 westbound exit and on ramps.

A preliminary report stated a Toyota Camry, driven by 77-year-old Annie J. Jones, failed to yield when turning left at a green light at the intersection causing the crash.

The Camry turned into 27-year-old Deputy Justin V. Slate's lane of travel where he was driving in his patrol vehicle.

Deputy Slate, Jones, and Jones' passenger, identified as 76-year-old Maxwell C. Jones, were taken to area hospitals.
