A fatal wreck involving a moped and an SUV blocked a portion of Murfreesboro Pike in south Nashville.
The incident happened around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday on Murfreesboro Pike near Ransom Road.
Officials on the scene said a man riding a moped, later identified as 87-year-old Jackie Scott, was killed in a collision with another vehicle.
According to reports, Scott left the Kroger fuel station in the 2200 block of Murfreesboro Pike before making a sudden lane change into the path of another vehicle driven by 30-year-old Heather Davis.
Authorities said Davis told them she was unable to avoid the crash.
Scott died at the scene. Officials confirmed he was wearing a helmet.
No other injuries were reported, and authorities said there was no indication of alcohol or drug involvement.
Lanes of Murfreesboro Pike were blocked during the investigation between Ransom Road and Franklin Limestone Road.
