Only hours after a line of severe thunderstorms brought high winds and torrential downpours to middle Tennessee, another front is projected to move into the area later Thursday afternoon.
A round of storms moved through overnight and caused severe flooding across northern portions of middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky.

NewsChannel 5 Meteorologist Lelan Statom said the new system could dump anywhere between 3-5 inches of rainfall in the Metro Nashville area.
Some areas in the northern part of the state have already seen as much as 6-inches.
Flash flooding prompted evacuations and road closures across the area. In Sumner County, several roads were impassable due to rising waters.
