A mother has been charged after leaving her toddler in an unattended vehicle.
Officials said the 36-year-old College Grove woman left the young child asleep in his car seat with the vehicle locked and running.
A shopper told police about seeing the unattended toddler in the vehicle which was parked in the middle of the parking lot near Belk at Cool Springs Galleria around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The baby’s mother eventually returned and was issued a misdemeanor citation which charged her with leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle.
Authorities said she was set to book herself into jail before 3 p.m. Saturday. Her identity was not released.
Police warned the public to remember the dangers of leaving your child unattended in a car, from auto theft and abduction, to choking and other medical emergencies.
Officials said fines for the Class-B misdemeanor have ranged from $200-$500.
